Every sport has a pinnacle for individual success, and nothing cements lifetime achievements quite as much as a spot in the hall of fame.
Fans of baseball and New York sports betting know only a select few ever will attain a spot in the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.
The 2023 MLB Hall of Fame ceremony is on July 23 with Fred McGriff and Scott Rolen being inducted.
To be eligible for the Hall of Fame, MLB players must have played at least 10 seasons and must be retired for at least five years. Players such as David Wright, Dustin Pedroia, CC Sabathia and Troy Tulowitzki will be eligible in the next couple of years, along with other strong names who recently have retired and are biding their time.

We utilized Baseball-Reference.com’s Hall of Fame monitor stat to see which current players are likely headed to Cooperstown. Using its rough scale, 100 means there is a good possibility of induction and 130 or above is virtually a lock for the Hall.
Most Likely Active Hall of Famers
Here is analysis you won’t find on any legal New York betting apps.
No current player is more certain to be a Hall of Famer five years after retirement than Detroit’s Miguel Cabrera. Cabrera has spent most of his career with the Tigers and has 508 career home runs. He has 12 seasons with at least 100 RBI, including 11 in a row at one point in his career.
His best years came in 2012 and 2013 when he won AL MVP awards. Cabrera will retire as a no doubt future Hall of Famer.
A trio of dominant pitchers follow Cabrera on the list. Justin Verlander, Clayton Kershaw and Max Scherzer have nine combined Cy Youngs and two MVP trophies to go along with a bevy of All-Star game appearances.
Jose Altuve, Mike Trout and Nolan Arenado follow them on the list with many accomplishments. Trout and Altuve have at least one MVP award and Arenado is one of the best defensive players of his generation, as evidenced by his 10 Gold Glove awards.
What About Mets, Yankees?
While current studs like Aaron Judge, Pete Alonso, Gerrit Cole and potentially more might build on potential Hall of Fame cases over the coming years, the only New York area players currently on the top 10 list are two of the dominant pitchers winding their careers down with the Mets in Scherzer and Verlander.
It is highly unlikely the pair can add another World Series to their resumes this season. FanDuel New York has the Mets +7500 to win it all, which is tied for 19th with Cleveland among 30 MLB teams.
Verlander had a resurgence last season with the Astros, winning the AL Cy Young and his second World Series and he parlayed that success into a two year, $86.67 million contract with the Mets. Verlander has yet to find the same level of success in New York. At his age, he is unlikely to get back to that form.
Scherzer is making the same amount of money per year as Verlander with the Mets as he is in the second year of a three-year, $130 million pact. He has eight wins on the year, but his 3.99 ERA is the highest he’s had since 2011 as he also shows signs of slowing down. Despite the drop in play, both of these players have put together sterling resumes and will no doubt be heading to the Hall of Fame.
