The New York Jets entered the 2022 NFL Draft with the most draft capital in the league, and they certainly used it well. Not only did they make two selections inside the top 10, they also traded up from the second round to make a third first-round pick.

Garrett Wilson of Ohio State was the No. 10 pick by the Jets, but he was only the fifth receiver ever selected in the first round by the Jets. The Jets traded back into the first round to select Florida State’s Jermaine Johnson II at No. 26 after considering him at No. 10.
Johnson is just the latest first-round defensive end for the Jets as they've selected 11 others during their franchise history. The most recent defensive end selection was Leonard Williams at No. 6 during the 2015 draft. However, he played more of a 3-4 defensive end role than as a pure -rusher.
The last "true" defensive end they selected in Round 1 was Quinton Coples from North Carolina (2012). He started 32 games for the Jets, tallying 16.5 sacks.

Despite three first-round picks, the New York Jets still have among the worst odds in the NFL to win the Super Bowl, according to DraftKings Sportsbook New York.
